Reader comment on item: The Muslim Claim to Jerusalem

Isn't it interesting, that when the Prophet Mohammed created a Jund Filistan, its capitol was in Ramle, later in Lydda, but never in Jerusalem, even though Jerusalem was in the Jund?
[Today they are called Ramla and Lod.]

And when the Caliph built the Dome of the Rock, he remained in Damascus and not, in Jerusalem?

So it seems that Jerusalem is really so important to the Muslims, only when they don't control it!
