Jews and Christian's claim on Mecca

Reader comment on item: The Muslim Claim to Jerusalem

Submitted by Prashant (United States), May 29, 2015 at 03:20

Dear Dr Pipes:

While the world discusses the Islamic claim on Jerusalem (even though the word Jerusalem occurs zero times in Quran), it ignores a more important question: Should there be a claim on Kaaba for Christians and Jews. According to the Islamic tradition -- and, thus, by their own admission-- Abraham built the Kaaba and Abraham is a religious figure for both Jews and Christians. So Christians and Jews have a direct claim on Mecca.

This idea might sound very blasphemous because non-Muslims are not even allowed to go anywhere close to Mecca, but the only thing that makes it so is Islamic hypocrisy. The entire world accepts the idea that non-Muslims cannot enter Mecca without questioning it. Most of us would never support the idea of making Jerusalem a Jew-only city. Then why should Mecca be a Muslim-only city?
