IDF is not measured against the number of its enemies

Dear Albert,

I agree with you. It is the IDF's job to defend Israel, not the job of politicians or anybody else. Whatever makes the IDF soldiers stronger is the only right thing to go for. If one releases a thousand enemies, fine. I trust the IDF to fight these people again and again. The strength of the IDF is not measured against the number of its enemies because the IDF is one entity.That is the qualitiy to preserve. No one shall be singled out on the grounds of political calculation. That trust is the basis of soldier's morale. IDF strength protects Israel, not the weakness of its enemies. There's no trading between the two. Gilad's release looks like a trade but to me it is not.
