dear mr. pipes:

i enjoy and find your articles interesting and worthy. but in writing about schalit. i don't think you understand the difference between israeli sentimentalism and israeli reality. from your short piece, i think, you fail to understand the feelings and thoughts we who live in israel have for a citizen soldier who is in danger of being murdered and tortured by our enemies, many of whom are at best belong in retarded instituions (sorry if you cannot appreciate this last unsentimental phrase). for gilad schalit most of us would be willing to give up our lives to wrench him from the torture he went through; such as, attacking the place he is incarcerated in and risking our lives. i am sorry that you have to live with the feeling that we are "sentimental>" anyway, thank you for your attention. michael tal
