The US Marines are trained I am told to never leave a man behind. From Blackhawk and to other Maytyrs I believe this to be their principal and have sustained many losses to rescue what other armies would have left for lost. Their reputation leaves any potential opponent in fear if they have any wit to them at all. This is how I see this trade. I feel confident that spoken somewhere is the assurance that another capture by Hamas will bring a fearsome retaliation. Perhaps like the Marines sent to Tripoli by Thomas Jefferson to create a regime change after American hostages were taken at that time. Either Hamas will behave or be destroyed is My prediction.

As I heard once the Talmud discusses the concept of our Jewish obligation to ransom hostages with the caution not to overpay or be met with more hostage taking, but still an obligation. This is not an even deal, one beautiful IDF member in exchange for a thousand worthless and evil men? An equal exchange? No his life was worth 10,000 of them. If they do it again it should be Hamas's lives that they bargained away.
