NO Shame, yes Pride!

Mr. Pipes: Most of the time I agree with your opinions/analysis. Not this time. As a former combat officer in the IDF I know, as do all of our soldiers, from first hand experience the power of the knowledge that come what may, I will never be abandoned, or forsaken, and if the price of obtaining my release is releasing potential enemy/combatants, so be it. I'm willing to wager that If Gilad did not have that kind of faith, he would not have survived.

From a different practical point of view do you know how much it costs to house, feed and guard all of these prisoners? If they choose to fight us again, they can always land in those same prisons again. It is no accident that thousands of Arab combatants sit in Israeli prisoners while try as they might in 64 years they have succeeded in holding less than a handful of our people in their jails.
