The Return of Gilad Schalit

Reader comment on item: Gilad Shalit and Doing Business with Terrorists

Submitted by Nathan Rosenblatt (United States), Oct 20, 2011 at 21:09

I am concerned over the media terminology in describing the "capture" of Schalit. The language used would lead one to believe he, a soldier, was taken in the course of military battle. He was kidnapped and taken hostage: that's the long and the short of it! It was a political action, crafted by a people who have made a fine art out of taking hostages for ransom.

It pains me to read and hear the shadings of truth uttered by the talking heads on TV and then to read the same twisted language used to describe a simple criminal act! Where is our sense of outrage?
