The root cause of all judeo-islamic misunderstanding - Valid for jews making an effort in good faith trying to understand Islam.

Judging Muslims by what Islamic states do is wrong. Muslims have to be judged by what the plain Muslim individuals do.

Judging plain individual Muslims by what we "heard" from a friend of a friend, "read" in an ultra conservative magazine known for lack of objectiveness, or "saw in a movie" that by the way, was very $ucce$$ful is wrong. Individual Muslims have to be judged by what you experience directly from them.

Judging all the Muslim individuals from the trauma you had when a man looking Muslim pulled a gun at you and robbed you is wrong. Have exposure to a wider sample of Muslim individuals before making a solid judgment.

But if despite all your efforts, you couldn't get exposed to enough Muslim individuals, then read their Holly Book with an open mind and without prejudices or assumptions, and putting every verse in a historical context (as you would do when reading the Bible or the Torah). Then get your own conclusions.
