"Not Diplomacy?"

Reader comment on item: On NASA's Strange Priorities

Submitted by Lyone Fein (United States), Jul 7, 2010 at 00:40

In his statements, the director is quoted as saying that this is definitely not diplomacy. NASA is not being tasked with a diplomatic mission. Perhaps it is a fund raising mission then? Always seeking to justify asking for money from the Federal Government, NASA may now be on it's own regarding future funding; and what better source then the Saudis? If only the scientists of NASA can find common ground with the twelfth century medieval outlook of fundamentalist Islamism, then the Space Agency will be all set into the indefinite future! Since both the Q'uran and Scientific theory are open to interpretation, I am certain there will be plenty of ground for discussion and the discovery mutually shared values and outlooks.
