in response to reader comment: Islam Minus West Equals Zero

Submitted by Verne Simon (United States), Jul 23, 2010 at 17:43

In the best of all possible worlds (to quote Dr. Pangloss) Muslims would be well reasoned and tolerant. Unfortunately as Mr. Cline points out during Islams occupation of Spain education and the advancement of science declined in furtherance of the intolerant ideology of Islam. Since that time Islam's attitude has not changed except to become worse. The notion that including Muslims from nations which hate Americans (and their institutions) would improve our image among them is not only naive but a colossal waste of resources. The only interest Muslims have in western technology and knowledge is to utilize it in the destruction of itheir perceived enemies. When they are interested in learning and embracing western values we should give them some cosideration. Until then let them remain home and ruminate about killing the infidels. We don't need to assist them to that end.
