Hi,

Before even saying modernity let me to say that what the modernity mean to a muslim and a non-muslim,as the god have different meaning and name for different faiths.if any body thinks that modernity is new concept for islam and muslims then the person first read the Holy Quran and hadith and find out the notion of modernity. If modernity means they want a new world based on rationality then one must accept that islam never ask any human being to follow islam blindly but always invite human being to findout the rationality, logical culmination in god creation and apply the faculty of logic in undertsanding the truth of religion. The many stories of quran about past shows the logical culmination of the siting the events for reminder and improvment in human nature and society. Is is not a sign of modernity in term of religious discourse?.

As far as the modernity of result in term of western civilization and advancement in science and technology, application of scince in material advancement, radical revolution in social evolution, economic mystification in capitalism and socilaism and mass cross cultural synthesis is concerned then i am sorry to say that Muslims really missing modernity but not islam.why we want to see Islam on modernity line but not modernity attribute in islamic line? The application of modernity to Islam and muslims is a political jargon to divide the monolithic Islam and use of this word for this purpose no muslims belive in this sort of modernity.

cannot we have some other application of modernity for islam. Is it necessary to apply the modern western notion of modernity with all attributes which negate the very basic of Islam, for Muslims?can any body write to me in detail?
