Reader comment on item: [Finding Moderate Muslims:] Do you believe in modernity?

Submitted by Susan Petrea (United States), Nov 26, 2003 at 13:12

I would like to thank you for your consistent and invaluable information concerning Islam, both "militant" and "moderate." I use the term "moderate" with consternation, because I am convinced that "moderate" Islam is a fallacy. I realize that many Muslims portray an image of peace, tolerance, and loyalty to America, but considering Islam's history of infiltrating other cultures for the purpose of eventually dominating them, I am wary of the Islamic agenda in America.

Also, it is evident in Europe that Muslims intend to impose their religion and law there as soon as their numbers are sufficient. They have made their intentions very clear.

I am very concerned that Islam is being imposed in our public schools under the guise of acquainting American children with Islamic culture. That, combined with the hysterical, paranoid reaction of American Islamic advocacy representatives to any criticism of Islam, is cause for suspicion and worry. If Islam is the benign and innocuous faith that muslims claim it is, it should easily withstand close scrutiny, yet Muslims like Ibrahim Hooper with C.A.I.R. are determined that Islam will not be scrutinized or criticized.

Please keep up the good work of informing Americans about Islam. I think that Islam is incompatible with American democracy, and Americans have a right to know the truth about the rapidly growing Muslim population and what they are teaching their children. Our children's future is at stake. Islam has a very nasty history and in spite of frantic Muslim efforts to revise Islam's past, it cannot and must not be ignored.
