Marcus' laws of electoral democracy in Moslem-majority countries

Reader comment on item: A Democratic Islam?

Submitted by G. Marcus (United States), Apr 17, 2008 at 19:10

1. Eventually all electoral democratic systems converge on the lowest common denominator.

2. In Moslem-majority countries this can only be Conservative Islam.

3. Electoral systems in all Moslem-majority countries, if left alone "without interference", will therefore eventually always converge on
Conservative Islam.

4. Having converged on Conservative Islam as result of electoral democracy running its course, then the time will come to do away with
electoral democracy and replace it with the Shariah regime (the only one permitted and aspired by Conservative Islam).

-------------

Examples of Interference in Electoral Democracy:
Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon (electoral system),
Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey (1923-1997).

Examples of Non-Interference in Electoral Democracy:
Iran, Iraq, Palestinian Auth., Turkey (1997-?).
