Defeat is never prettyReader comment on item: Muslim Zionism Submitted by Kenneth S. Besig (Israel), Jun 11, 2006 at 02:18 The voters here in Israel who elected the present Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, did so in the knowledge that he would continue to retreat. Victorious nations and military forces don't run away and abandon strategic assets to the enemy, but defeated ones do. Has Israel really lost? Well of course not, but a plurality of Israeli Jewish voters believe so, and thus put into power a leader and a party which has publicly stated that they are worn out and tired, and which has promised to give up whatever territory it feels it has to, not for peace but out of weariness, that is just another world for defeat.
