300,000 people in distant TehranReader comment on item: Muslim Zionism Submitted by Andy (Italy), Jun 7, 2006 at 05:46 I am curious how did it happen that 300,000 people gathered in distant Tehran. I was raised in Soviet Union and I know how the government and Communist Party can enforce thousands or hundred thousand people to gather to express solidarity with Chilean people for the struggle with Pinochet or to express solidarity with African people for their fight against American imperialism. If one did not come, he could lose his job. Do you really believe that Iranian people express their solidarity with Palestinians? Remember that in the Soviet Union after all these people got a freedom of speach they immediately turned against the Communist Party, but not against Pinochet :) Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
