Like Lebanon (which was in the balance a success), Gaza can be seen as a strategic retreat in order to fortify other positions. Certainly, Sharon wants to solidify Israel's position in the West Bank. And, from some things I've recently read it seems he also wants to strengthen the concept of a unified Jerusalem.Thank you.
