In the UK, we already have police powers to detain people who mask their faces in the public domain. Ski masks, balaclavas, motor cycle helmets and visors, will all lead to you being denied entry to the bank, the jewellery shop, anywhere with significant sums in the cash register, night spots, and you are also liable to find you get your collar felt by the police, for causing a breach of the peace.

The only form of concealment of identity left, is the islamic burka and niqab, so it is unsurprising that these garments are becoming de rigueur among thugs, street criminals, shop lifters, pickpockets, muggers. The lowlifes know that the police are terrified of the consequences of anyone presenting in islamic garb.

It doesn't matter who it is, hiding under that cloth, the covering of the face should be banned in the public domain.
