Middle East cruelty

Reader comment on item: Caught on Tape: The Middle East's Culture of Cruelty

Submitted by Janusz Kowalik (United States), May 15, 2009 at 12:38

Cruelty in the culture of thev Middle East is not a surprise. It is enourgh to read Quran to see brutality and cruelty of ancient Arabs. European culture of the Middle Ages was not very different, Burning heretics on stake was a common punishment for heresy . Holy Inquisition was using torture in interrogating suspects. Thousands of women were drowned as suspected witches. Nazism was the most recent example of the European culture of death and cruelty. WE can hope that humanity is making progress and that in the future no culture of cruelty could be implemented or approved .
