because islam and the midde east are closed societies. Without outside ideas to temper its ideology, islam and the warlords 'concentrate' their ideas and pull people closer to the 'ideal' islam and enhance and widen their influence: the culture falls deeper into tyranny (think brownshirts, SS, gestapo, NAZI Germany).
