We Can't Have It Both Ways.Reader comment on item: Caught on Tape: The Middle East's Culture of Cruelty Submitted by Charles Griffith (United States), May 15, 2009 at 15:40 Re; your point (5), I'd suggest something radical for our State and Energy Departments......A hard, pragmatic assessment of our boycotting Arab oil, our buying more from the dictator of Venezuela (temporary minimal purchases) , severe gasoline rationing for the United States as we had in World War II, offshore drilling and shale exploitation of our own latent oil reserves within reach , and then our subsequent quarantine of the Arab Middle East. Also, a concurrent Manhattan project for alternative energy for vehicles. We're wasting our time kowtowing to "Arabia", just spinning our wheels fruitlessly. The shrieks and howls from the liberals will be overshadowed by the reality that we have indeed, been at war all this time. We must at long last wake up.
