Victory against insurgentsReader comment on item: Must Counterinsurgency Wars Fail? Submitted by Rafi (United States), Sep 15, 2008 at 06:25 It is well worth noting that during the 1970s, Ariel Sharon as GOC Southern Command, destroyed Fatah activity in the Gaza strip by careful, calculated measures against the organization while leaving the non-involved population alone. In addition, the "Arab Revolt" of 1936-39 was more an intracommunal struggle than a war against the Jews/British. More Arabs were killed by the fellow Arabs than by the Jews of the Yishuv and the British forces combined. This tradition of Arab killing Arab in greater numbers than Jews or Westerners is still carried out today, suggesting that there is a lot more turmoil within the Arab/Muslim world that has absolutely nothing to do with either Zionism or so-called Western imperialism.
