What type of war we should win?!

Reader comment on item: Must Counterinsurgency Wars Fail?

Submitted by Khaled Aly (Canada), Sep 16, 2008 at 11:33

The question is not how to win or to avoid losing a conventional or a counterinsurgent type of war. The question should be: What type of wars are important to win? If the reason around any war is to control oil resources, blindly support some allies, getting rid of expired weapons and pumping some cash into the bank accounts of cross-continent giant companies who have extreme interests in initiating these wars ...... then there is no cause and whether the US wins or loses this war, it is indeed a very stupid war to think of in the first place because Russia, Europe and China will expectedly respond to that greed with some ingenious tactics even if it'll take a while.

Before all, G. W. Bush invaded Iraq because it's loaded with weapons of mass destruction and has strong ties to Al-Qaida!! See how noble and honest the cause was?!! The type of war the US should focus on and the one that will yield a long-term unprecedented level of profit, is to help muslims reform in a way that they can accept the new world and become less childish, more open minded, have high level of tolerance to other ethnicities, be less judgmental and step back from the theory of conspiracy in almost all their speeches ...... there is a huge difference between stealing muslims resources by excessive violence as compared to helping them, through a chain of noble acts, to sincerely accept living in peace with Israel. That's the only way our world will be better for the West, muslims and for Israel and that's the war that is important to win.
