Winning the war against Islamic extremists

Reader comment on item: Must Counterinsurgency Wars Fail?

Submitted by Ahmad (United States), Sep 14, 2008 at 14:03

The war against Islamic extremists is possible in non-Muslim-Majority countries like India and Israel. Israel was very successful in identifying the key people responsible and assassinating them. A place where extremism spreads is in the mosques and Islamic religious schools. The way to stop them is to assassinate those religious teachers who preach violence and close down their mosques and religious schools.

One positive example is by India when Islamic mobs caused riots in Kashmir and the Indian security forces shot about 50 of the militants dead. We do well to learn from the Spanish when they killed many of the militants in south of Spain and kept that area free from Islamic extremism for at least 600 years.
