regurgitate partisan platitudes much?Reader comment on item: Zionism's Bleak Present Submitted by bos (United Kingdom), Oct 11, 2007 at 19:13 you do know that Israel didnt actually annex the west bank or Gaza. It didnt even invade the west bank ,the west bank actually invaded it, so settlement of the territory is not de facto ilegal and has only been declared so by a partisan UN. Egypt was firing on Israeli ships at the outbreak of the six day war, so the same holds true for Gaza. Jews lived in the west bank prior to its ethnic cleansing by the largely palestinian Jordanian army, so the declaration of its re-setlement to be ilegal would seem to be a legally unconscionable endorsement of the hashemites kingdoms second round of anti jewish ethnic cleansing. Israel has allready vacated the west bank and Gaza and is still condemned for its counterattacks. It was Golda meir who allowed the original post 67 settlers to stay, and she did it not to grab land, but because she knew that one day, for peace the land would have to be handed over to Arabs, and if the Arabs werent ok with there being some jews on it, then the peace would be doomed and not yet worth the risk.
