A modest proposalReader comment on item: Zionism's Bleak Present Submitted by Bob (United States), Oct 15, 2007 at 02:24 I have felt for many years that the best solution to the relentless strife in Israel-Palestine is statehood. By statehood I mean that all the territory there should become part of the United States of America. Why not? Is Israel any farther away than Hawaii? The Jews and the Arabs would all become Americans, the U.S. could build huge military bases there (our heart's desire) and nobody would dare mess with our newest state. These new Americans would be free to move to other states if they liked and would be free to focus their attention consumerism and reveling in the latest antics of Brittany Spears and Lindsey Lohan. Could there possibly be a better solution that? hmmm? what to call it? How about the Promised Land? They can't fight over that can they?
