Reader comment on item: Zionism's Bleak Present

Submitted by Susan Browne (United States), Oct 17, 2007 at 12:56

Last month, CUFI, (Christians United for Israel) held its' annual meeting in Washington, DC in its national night to honor Israel. The group calls themselves Christian Zionists, and began as a grass roots, one-issue national movement in the evangeliical church two years ago . It has grown to chapters in every state in the USA, to some 40,000 members - 5000 of which attended the conference in DC. They are coming together of Bible Based Christians and Torah-based Jews. They are coming together to meet their congressmen to tell them their concerns about security for Israel, and the threat of Islamic Facism in the Middle East and the world.

Liberal Jews are characterizing this movement as a group of end times radicals anxious to exaccerbate the conflicts in the Middle East to usher in Armaggedon and the reign of Messiah. When the reasons for uniting with the Jews is quite the opposite. Disgraced by their lack of intercession in Germany in WWII - the Christians are determined that the Jews and Israel will NEVER have to go through a threat again alone. "NEVER AGAIN .... NOT ON OUR WATCH!" is their battle cry. And as the founder of CUFI said, "When 50 million Christians come together with 5 million Jews - it is a marriage made in heaven." These Christians honor the rock of Torah-truth upon which Christianity is built - and most have abandon the idea that Hashem is going to send his choosen people to hell for not accepting Jesus and their Messiah.

Jewish liberals make us all very nervous. They seem to believe, as they did in Germany, that no one could really implement so heinous an agenda as the one promulgated by Hitler and now Akmadinejhad. I hold all Jews in very high regard - but isn't this the same gentle innocence that got 6 million people slaughtered?

Why do these dear, gentle Jewish brothers believe this cannot happen again? What is behind this - how can we rouse them - so that the unthinkable can not happen again?

Shalom
