Bush's "Two State Solution"

Reader comment on item: Zionism's Bleak Present

Submitted by Dr. Howard D. Garber (United States), Oct 18, 2007 at 04:55

Pres. Bush's "Roadmap" is another Oslo "Land for Peace" failure of the past, and his "2 State

Solution" pushed by Secy Rice is a continuing effort to force tiny, democratic Israel into "suicide".

Facts: Jordan, was & is a "Palestinian Arab State" 4 X the size of Israel & over 70 % "Palestinian Arab". In 1948, rejection by the Arab states of UN's "partitioning plan" was followed by Jordan King Abdullah's invasion and brutal 19 year occupation of "Samaria and Judea" -- i.e., biblical Israel. (No attempt during that period to form another "Palestinian State".) Why was it not referred to by the media & world as Jordanian Occupied Territory"? In 1967 Jordan & Syria joined with Egypt's Nasser in preparation for a "final war" against Israel.

Encouraged by the Soviets, he ordered UN troops out of the Sinai, blocked Israel's shipping to the Red Sea & massed his Sinai forces in preparation for the destruction of Israel. The US, involved in Vietnam, discouraged Israel from reacting. However, on June 5th, 1967 Israel's pre-emptive air attack on Egypt wiped out its air force, and the IDF not only liberated Samaria & Judea territories, but conquered Gaza, the Golan Hgts, and the Sinai. The media & world from then on has called it "Israeli Occupied Territory". And, the US, has since pressured Israel to return "Land for Peace", but its been "Land for Promises". Promises by "credible Arab leaders" like terrorist Arafat, long dedicated to Israel's destruction?

The following year, 100 American generals & admirals sent a statement to Pres Johnson against the return of land by Israel & supporting the Jordan River border as essential for Israel's survival. The Sinai was returned to Egypt, contingent on Sadat's demand that all Jews leave. Its been a "cold peace" since .

Has Israel not learned a lesson from its recent forced evacution of Israelis from Gaza? The result is an entrenched, terrorist Hamas after defeating "less dangerous Fatah" under Moumoud Abbas. Both terrorist factions are dedicated to the ultimate destruction of Israel. And now "Pres Abbas" & Israel's unpopular PM Olmert are soon to meet in Annapolis MD to discuss Bush's "2 State Solution".

Its time for Israel -- (less than 1/2 the size of San Bernaradino County, Calif.) -- to heed the 1968 advice of 100 American generals & admirals.
