Mr. Pipes,

I agree with your major thesis. We must crush the enemy, bring him to the bitter despair that is the only path to getting him to give up his war against our very existence.

But I disagree with one thing. I don't think there is any such thing as a modern perversion of Islam. It's the nature of the beast to be hateful, violent, and dishonest. It has always been so, and it still is.

Perhaps you think this is too radical to say?

I have never called Islamism a "perversion of Islam." However hideous, it is as authentic a reading as any other.
