Daniel, The crux of your argument resides in one phrase you made....and is paramount to any progress dealing with the barbarians:

"It can, in so far as those who are civilized confront those who are not civilized."

As long as Western leaders passively hope things get better by themselves, we are doomed. As Europe has shown us and failed many times before. Another major problem: never in the history of the USA was it's own media helping the enemy as they are doing now. Despite this enemy within, our leaders must not fail: Better to confront a bully, the Islamic barbarian, rather than serve one. And infinitely better to take him down now before he gets nukes.
