Reader comment on item: Debate in London: Radical Islam vs. Civilization
in response to reader comment: Problem is Islam itself

Submitted by donvan (United States), Feb 1, 2007 at 17:24

The concept of Islam is the antithesis of Western civilization. It is unique among ideological utopian movements in its rejection of any other thesis, hence incapable of synthesis, assimilation. This is the crux of the Muslim problem. What to do with a intrinsically antithetical political movement with the fanatical veneer of religion, with a 1400 year history of expansion by violence and intimidation. Evidently, the west has decided that if you can't beat 'em join 'em. Sad but true

. As Paul Simon said , "We've lived so well so long". With the barbarians thru the gate , not at the gate , the systems of the Christian west ,legal, academic, political, and commerce have all moved to accomodate the barbarians among us. As their power grows and we reorient the toilets to face Mecca, have Muslim only bathrooms, revert to male-female separate facilities, and watch as the American ,British, and Eurarabian politicians feverishly seek ever more ways to accomodate what cannot be accomodated.

From the Imams in Minnesota, to taxi drivers, to separate facilities for the Muslims in every aspect of life. What once was referred to as a "Crucible" "Melting pot" where we insisted that those who come to the United States are transformed into that unique citizen , an American. Leave your old animosities, hatreds, and barbaric cultures behind, and "become" an American. No more do we seek this. The intellectual fashion of the hour tells us that we must accept the foreigh cultures, no matter the barbarity on which that culture may be based.
