The new Samizdat

Reader comment on item: Debate in London: Radical Islam vs. Civilization

Submitted by Mladen Andrijasevic (Israel), Feb 1, 2007 at 16:18

The fact that 150 journalists were present at the event and yet it was not reported in the main papers is truly astonishing . This is the big story. Any yet so many of us have read the transcript and seen the video. The Internet has become the new Samizdat . Just like Soviet dissidents in the seventies people keep sending each other emails with articles which will never appear in the mainstream media. Parallel words indeed.

But what about those who for some reason or other continue to read both or are even journalists in the MSM? They know who is better informed! They must feel like characters in a Milan Kundera's novel where everyone knows that everyone knows that they all are living a farce but no one dares to say anything .
