legal status of gaza and west bank residents

Reader comment on item: "[Symposium] On the Strip: Where To Go from Gaza?"

Submitted by terence silber (United Kingdom), Jul 4, 2006 at 10:29

As the residents of Gaza and the West bank voted democratically for a known established terrorist group to rule them, Is their protection under UN laws about targetting civilians no longer available to them?

Can the IDF now target anyone and collateral damage of civilians is now legitimate and not a war crime because they are clearly aiding and abetting hamas?
