Resignation By War or Persuation

Reader comment on item: "[Symposium] On the Strip: Where To Go from Gaza?"

Submitted by Melvyn I. Marquis (United States), Jun 29, 2006 at 19:31

Causing a sense of resignation among the Palestinian population would require subjecting them to a massive military defeat, a strict military occupation - worse than the occupations of Germany and Japan following World War II - trials for those who organized and carried out the killings of innocent Israelis (with the resultant death penalty for those convicted of such crimes), and a forceful and revolutionary change in the educational systems and media to eliminate the anti-semitic garbage.

The cost in treasure of this type of program would be enormous given the size of the economy of Israel, aside from the psychological stresses inflicted on the occupation forces. The Palestinian population would have to undergo the same type of defeat the Axis powers experienced in World War II.
