Short and to the point : What a pleasure

Reader comment on item: "[Symposium] On the Strip: Where To Go from Gaza?"

Submitted by Jon - a brit in Euroland (France), Jun 30, 2006 at 08:31

During a war, which is where we are, there cannot be any other object than the defeat of the enemy. Obviously the Palestinians have the same objective, which they have been very exlicit about.

Paradoxically the "Arab" leader is non-arab Iran, a country which has, in all recorded history, been seeking, in conflict with non-arab Turkey, to dominate the arab world !

It would probably be appropriate for the Palestinians to reflect on their acceptance of such "benevolent " leadership. It certainly behooves the democratic high-gdp-per-capita West to think about dealing also with the Iranian "puppet master", simultaneously ...

Our civilisation is more fragile than that of Iran, simply because our society is built on other norms and expectations.
