The Israeli "Seinfeld strategy"

Reader comment on item: "[Symposium] On the Strip: Where To Go from Gaza?"

Submitted by Kenneth S. Besig (Israel), Jul 2, 2006 at 03:49

It appears that Israel's new Left wing defeatist government is now going to try using the "Seinfeld strategy" to recover our captured soldier.

You see, most governments and their military services usually try to use overwhelming force to achieve their objectives. But in the present case in the Gaza Strip, Olmert and his generals seem to have decided that indecisiveness, uncertainty, and fiasco should be the guiding policy. Thus Israeli tanks and armored personnel carriers drive around in circles, Israeli artillery and the Israeli Air Force blow up empty buildings and fields, and Israeli soldiers stand around smoking and talking. Thus it appears that the present Israeli government and our military forces, rather than actually attack and kill the enemy and rescue the captured soldier, is now using the "Seinfeld Strategy, " in the hope that the Palestinian enemy will laugh himself to death.
