Bush's commitment to to Abdullah in Crawford in 2002

Reader comment on item: "[Symposium] On the Strip: Where To Go from Gaza?"

Submitted by Arthur Cohn (United States), Jun 30, 2006 at 00:40

For the first year of his administration, Bush seemed to be trying to break from Clinton's Oslo or his father's Madrid policies. Then in March 2002, Bush met in Crawford TX with then Crown Princw Abdullah of S. Arabia. Bush made some commitments to Abdullah, one of which was, and is, to support the Palestinian Stae as announced in Sept. 2002.

We don't know Abdullah's quid pro quos, but they probably included the pumping of oil at a high rate, and possibly assisting Bush 1 and Baker's investments in the Carlyle Group. It is this commitment that is behind Rice's foolish comments on Israel- PA policy and her forced through Rafiah agreement that has so aided the terrorists.
