Reader comment on item: A Muhammad Cartoon a Day

Submitted by Rebecca Ellen Moulds (United States), Sep 21, 2012 at 17:31

I'm skeptical about Dr. Pipes' suggestion that publishing one Mohammed cartoon a day will make "islamists get used to the fact that we turn sacred cows into hamburger." Sometimes standing up to a bully backfires. Although the reaction to this film and any other criticism or perceived humiliation of Islam or Mohammed is usually exaggerated and violent, perhaps denigrating someone's religion is not the answer. Rather, how about simply ignoring it altogether? That may produce a shameful silence from the Islamists.
