I think Geller's approach is the more realistic one

Geller put in adequate security before launching her show. She spend $10,000 on it. Then she stood her ground, defending the First Amendment to the Constitution. No different from our soldiers, who fight for our freedoms, Geller stood ground for Americans. And as no one has succeeded in doing before her, she succeeded because she put that security in place.

What you are suggesting might work in theory; in reality, the people you are asking to put themselves out there are parents and spouses and someone's children. Chances are they would die at the hands of our enemy, the Islamist extremists. What Geller did was arm to the teech, and the people who died were the trouble-makers, the enemy jihadists. I stand with Geller's solution. We need more of precisely that.
