Reader comment on item: The Swiss Ban on Minarets: A Possible Turning Point
in response to reader comment: First blood by the neo-fascists in Europe

Mr Mohammed writes:

"Yesterday, the Jews were the focal point for Fascist consolidation, today it is the Muslims and immigrants. Jewish commentators and analyst will have to temper their ingrained opposition to everything Muslim"
Amazing how you bring the jews into this non-issue.
It's very simple - the Swiss decided they do not like to have symbols of Islamic imperialism in their backyards. They have been tolerant enough to allow the intrusion of a foreigh culture - mosques - but the that isn't good enough. Muslims want to pepper the skyline with minarets. A case of the guests showing cultural sensitivity or even gratitude to their hosts?

The Swiss want Switzerland to remain Swiss - much like you'd like Pakistan to remain muslim and India to become muslim.
