The ban is fine - no one needs minarets

Reader comment on item: The Swiss Ban on Minarets: A Possible Turning Point

Submitted by Henrik Ræder Clausen (Denmark), Dec 6, 2009 at 12:25

As the British imam Taj Hargey explains in Times, the ban is just fine, for minaret have no religious significance and Islam can be practiced just fine without them.

Minarets are political symbols, signifying that Islam is a political force dominating its surroundings. Iran has taken this concept a step further by their missile program, aptly naming their missiles "Great Prophet", implicitly demonstrating that the bomb-in-turban cartoon told the truth.

We do not want or need the political aspect of Islam in Europe.
