Reader comment on item: Westerners Welcome Harems
in response to reader comment: Islam needs a revival

Indeed, it is vital that this happen. Normative Judaism didn't arrive until the destruction of the Second Temple. It was only then that polygamy was banned.

Those who object should consider: you can't kill ideas. There are 1.2 billion Muslims and increasing. There certainly needs to be both stiff resistance to Islamism and support for all moderate Muslims in favor of a Muslim reformation.

Islam is only about 13 centuries old... relatively young compared to Christianity (2,000) and Judaism (3,500?). Perhaps it is at this moment that the dream of global conquest of the Shariah is most demonstrably a corrupt idea. If Islamists can do no more than destroy, their moral advantage is obviously questionable. Let's see building, not destruction.

I'm not suggesting giving an inch to Islamism either the soft or hard type. I'm no dupe for Ellison, Ramadan, CAIR and the like and agree with Pipes: such legal incremental Islamists are even more dangerous than violent ones. But Islam is not going away, wishful thinkers. Don't be like your enemy: build, don't destroy!
