FBI's Institutional Denial

Reader comment on item: Terror & Denial [by Hadayat at LAX]

Submitted by George Humm (United States), Jul 10, 2002 at 20:35

The FBI cannot call this terrorism because to do so would force them to deal with the issue of all the sleepers who are out there. This man was in the country for 8+ years, right? He made the people at EL Al nervous, but was never picked up on any of our domestic intelligence efforts ( if there is such a thing ). If you call it terrorism and then start to deal with the issue of the sleepers, you next must deal with how to catch all of them. Many are of Middle Eastern extraction but perish the thought that we should profile.

Oh well, perhaps if the event is big enough next time we will confront the problem.
