ONLY SOLUTION: GAZA TO EGYPT; WEST BANK PARTITIONED WITH JORDAN

Reader comment on item: Two Palestines, Anyone?

Pal-Arabs cannot govern themselves, because they are none other than Southern-Syrian Arabs, locked up for decades in refugee camps and given a pseudo-national identity, just to spearhead the avowed destruction of Israel. In essence an 'anti-nation' rather than a nation, they are unable to unite behind any other common cause.

Jordan and Egypt are relatively responsible states that formally agreed to coexistence with Israel.

The peace treaty with Egypt provides Israel with security by way of a wide buffer zone in demilitarized Sinai.

Jordan was part of the original Palestine Mandate, separated by the British in 1922 to create original Pal-Arab state, and is today one of the best-run Arab states.

A peaceful solution can only be based on Egypt taking over the administration of Gaza; while the West Bank is partitioned between Israel and Jordan in a way that safeguards security and settlements for Israel, demographics for Arabs, holy sites for both. Jordan's linkage with Arab sections of the West Bank could also take the form of a confederation.

Egypt and Jordan will have no choice but sooner or later take such a step, because they won't be able to tolerate a Muslim Brotherhood (Hamas) and irredentist (Fatah) regime next door, respectively.

Any further misguided "Palestianism" on the narrow sliver of Western Palestine will bring nothing but more wars, bloodshed and misery - certainly not an iota of the hoped-for peace!
