Reader comment on item: Louis Farrakhan Is Not a Muslim
in response to reader comment: "Slavery, Muhammad and Islam, ancient and modern"

slavery was normal at the time. 1400 years ago even drinking alcohol was not forbidden overnight, but at the time and the mediteranean slave trade is nothing compared to the atlantic slave trade my dear. then the arab world and africa were very much connected by trade. then slaves had certain rights and the colour of the skin did not matter. even fellow arabs were enslaved. slaves then never worked forever and could free themselves.

if you are white i would understand why you (lactantius) are so impressed with the verses & hadith. you are trying to defend the whites with the overused cliche of "muslims invented slavery". my friend, slavery took a whole new meaning when the whites kicked in . they reduced black people to animals.

last year rowan williams. thy archbishop of cantebury apologised for the involvement of THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND in the slave trade. they had plantations in the carribean. i bet you never knew that.

and by the way, in islam prophets are all perfect though they are human beings. therefore, it is true that only by following prophet muhammad one is on the right path, unlike christians who worship jesus (also a prophet in islam) but hardly follow him.

so my dear, get your facts right and read
