Reader comment on item: Louis Farrakhan Is Not a Muslim
in response to reader comment: True Persective

Submitted by Ainno (United States), Feb 3, 2006 at 09:09

The message is more important than the messenger.

Here is an example: Parents tell their children not to smoke, drink, have sex out of marriage, cuss, etc. when many of them are still doing it themselves.

Though they may be in that bondage, they understand the negative power of it and alert their kids to the danger to prevent them from going into it. The same is with a fallen leader in many cases. They may have made the mistake but that doesn't make what they are saying less true. The truth is true no matter where it comes from. In fact, we are always so quick to try to discredit someone for hypocrisy because of a mistake they made, yet we are all hypocrites ourselves.

Bottom line, if the message is truth, it is truth. And to reject the truth because you don't like the source of it is irresponsible.
