Both Syria and Iran have no interest whatsoever in helping the US disengage from Iraq. Mr. Baker seems to believe that the Saudis will be the locomotive of the new Middle East once Israel is "forced" to give in to Syria and PA-Hamas. This is wishful thinking in as much as the conflict in the Middle East between Israel and the Palestinians has become a Religious problem. It has nothing to do with borders or territories. It has become existentialist. The Muslims will NEVER EVER accept a Jewish State in the Region. So I really wonder how James Baker does not see the problem...
