Yes, it's Civil War, Stupid!Reader comment on item: James Baker's Terrible Iraq Report Submitted by Martin Kessler (United States), Dec 13, 2006 at 22:58 It's disheartening and incredulous my government did not foresee the 1000 year enmity that would erupt with easy prediction between the Sunnis and the Shias. Now we suddenly discover it. The problem in Arab Iraq is the minority "superior" Sunnis cannot and will never tolerate the majority "inferior" Shias from governing by majority rule, a democratic process as we define it. Give the Sunnis what they want and the "war" will be over, except the Shias are having too much fun to give in so easily; but they will eventually, they always do.
