Where were the "experts"?

With the release of the Baker Report, it is interesting to note that of the 10 members of the committee who produced this naive view of Iraq and the Middle East, only ONE actually took the trouble to even go to Iraq to see what was going on (Charles Robb - the only one with any military experience as well). The other nine members came up with their "solutions" to all the problems in Iraq drinking coffee in a conference room somewhere in D.C. Should any of us be surprised with the results?
