in response to reader comment: America's intentions

".. because America's primary Cold War strategy was about supporting brutal dictators in the third world, in some cases destroying democracies, and disregarding the freedoms and rights of ordinary citizens of the third world in order to beat the Soviets."

Greetings, Safraz. Could you please specify exactly what Third World democracies the USA destroyed during the Cold War? Also, would you care to extend your comments to describe exactly what else was in place (besides dictatorships) in the Islamic (or any other sector ) of the Third World?

Additionally, would you care to comment upon just what "freedoms and rights of ordinary citizens of the Third World" were being disregarded by the USA? Please be very specific. If the US had to deal with brutal dictators in order to secure our freedoms from being demolished by the brutal dictators of the Soviet Union, that's more than unfortunate. However the USA has not caused the Third World.

Indeed, the Third World remains desolate due to cultures that give rise to and support dictatorships - despite the best efforts of the US to ameliorate totalitarianism. One must look to the cultures that arise from Islam as examples of despotic regimes arising from totalitarian belief systems if one is to be honest about the main culprits of totalitarianism today. Blaming the USA simply will not get to the truth about the causes of dictatorships. On the other hand, being willing to take responsibility for what has directly risen out of Islamism will be helpful to that end. I'll give you a head start in examining what democracies have been threatened and even destroyed by Islam: Why don't you begin with Israel (threatened ) and then move on to Lebanon (destroyed) and move on from there, going North, South, East and West?
