RESPONSE TO DR SHARMA

Reader comment on item: In 1796, U.S. Vowed Friendliness With Islam
in response to reader comment: How Many Muslims Are Terrorists?

Submitted by Tim (United Kingdom), Jan 8, 2008 at 11:39

The article by Prof Sharma is quite frankly-UTTER RUBBISH! How can he say that such a large number of Muslims support terrorism? I question his motive for writing this article-He appears by name to be a Hindu-Could it be something to do with the hatred of Muslims by Hindus in India?

First of all, I have researched this and let me first of all say that Jihad means 'struggle' used in self-defence etc. It does not mean to attack. These people are therefore terrorists and not people performing Jihad. Even Muslim countries have been attacked. Pakistan has also been attacked by Al-qeida for arresting /killing hundreds of Al-qeida fighters. Many Pakistani soldiers have also died in the process. The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of all Muslims (probably around 99%) do not want any trouble. Islam teaches respect for others. Anyone who says otherwise is either misinformed or misinterpreting deliberately.

Groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas reflect the troubles in the Middle East and are not International organisations representing Muslims.

Comments and articles such as those written by Dr Sharma only help to add flames to the fire and I do not think that Dr Sharma wrote the article innocently-but with malice!

There are problems in the world e.g. the occupation of Palestine and some people are using this as an excuse to kill! We must all work together to stop terrorism regardless of our religion!
